Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan: Eight Years Together and Still No Wedding

Published on December 8, 2025 by Liora Crest

The mouthy car journalist who got fired from Top Gear for punching a producer over a steak. And Lisa, a former Irish actress who survived a plane crash. Nobody saw that pairing coming. But Jeremy Clarkson’s relationship with Lisa Hogan does exist, and they’ve been going strong since 2017, and they’re still together running a farm in the Cotswolds.

How They Met

They first connected at a party in 2017. Just as Jeremy was heading out the door, Lisa came up to him for a natter. Her son really liked Top Gear, but Jeremy’s fame didn’t overly impress her. “Even if they’re famous, if they’re not nice, it doesn’t matter,” she said in interviews.

Lisa Hogan’s age is 51 now. She’s a Dubliner by birth, and before Jeremy, she was married for almost 30 years to Baron Steven Bentinck. They split in 2011. Lisa Hogan’s children include three from that marriage: Wolfe, Alice, and Lizzy.

Jeremy’s 65, so there’s a 14-year age difference. He’s been married twice before. Jeremy Clarkson‘s children with his ex-wife Frances include Emily, Finlo, and Katya. Between them, they’ve got six kids, though they don’t all live together.

Taking It Slow

Lisa wasn’t about to rush into anything once she was divorced. “It was quite a long courtship, as I didn’t know where he was in his life,” she told The Times. “And I wasn’t ready to start dating again.”

But Jeremy was persistent. Took her out for dinner. Proper old-fashioned courting. They made their debut as a couple at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in 2017.

By 2020, they had relocated to Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton. It had been in Jeremy’s possession since 2008, but he never did much with it. Lisa said she had never intended to live on a farm. Jeremy tricked her by asking her to run the farm shop. “It was a way of getting me down here,” Lisa said. “I think he wanted me to move down here full time, but if he’d said that, I might have just said no.”

Living Together Without Going Mental

Jeremy Clarkson has provided some insight into his working relationship with Lisa Hogan in interviews, revealing how they keep each other from going insane. “I think it’s a happy way to live, to have breakfast together and go our separate ways, and then you’ve got plenty to talk about in the evening,” he told The Telegraph.

Lisa agreed. They work independently during the day and come together at night. Spending every minute together would be mental, Jeremy said, especially with cameras following them around for the show.

Lisa’s role on Clarkson’s Farm has continued to develop and now involves more than running the shop. She has built pigpens, weighed goats, and wrestled with council planning issues. Jeremy joked that in the past her central role was to “roll her eyes” at his ideas, but she’s become an absolutely integral part of the operation.

“We do have a really good relationship,” Lisa told Hello magazine in June 2025. “Jeremy definitely wears the trousers, but I’d like to think it’s fairly even. I do enjoy being a strong woman. He’ll say he wants something done, and I’ll try to talk him around. And then I’ll agree to do exactly what he wants. And then I’ll go ahead and do exactly what I want!”

The Marriage Question

Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan’s relationship remains strong after eight years, but they’re not married. And according to Lisa, they won’t be. “Mrs Clarkson? No, thank you, I like Lisa Hogan,” she told Fabulous magazine.

They’ve also decided not to have children together. “We’re at a stage where we are not going to have kids. I’m just happy pootling along,” Lisa said.

But the proposal question keeps coming up, especially after a scene in Clarkson’s Farm where Jeremy told Lisa he had a “big surprise” while they were on a walk. Lisa asked if he was proposing. Jeremy pretended not to hear and instead showed her a fallen willow tree bursting back into life. Classic Jeremy.

“I’ll think about the proposal, OK? I’m not ready yet,” he said on camera. Lisa joked she may have proposed on Leap Year Day, February 29th. “Jeremy doesn’t think I proposed, but he wasn’t wearing his hearing aids, so no one will know.”

In December 2024, some papers suggested Jeremy might propose on Christmas. Lisa’s Instagram post marking eight years together fanned those flames. But honestly, they both seem perfectly happy as they are.

The Challenges of 2024

This year’s been properly mental for them. Series four of Clarkson’s Farm launched on Prime Video. In August, Jeremy opened The Farmer’s Dog pub in Asthall with Lisa by his side.

But behind the scenes, stuff’s been going wrong. Jeremy told The Sunday Times that “everything that could go wrong has gone wrong” due to weather and other issues. Then Storm Darragh hit on December 7th and 8th, ripping part of the marquee off at The Farmer’s Dog. The marquee houses the shop, butchers, and off-licence, so they had to close it over the weekend.

Lisa posted updates from the farm to reassure worried fans that the livestock were fine. She explained Darragh is an Irish word for oak, which is a nice bit of Irish heritage showing through.

Jeremy, meanwhile, got into it with someone on Instagram who criticised him for not taking the marquee down before the storm. “Surprised you didn’t take it down before the storm came, would have been easier,” the person wrote. Jeremy fired back, defending his team’s response.

What Makes Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan’s Relationship Work

Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan’s relationship works because they’re both independent people who’ve been through marriages before and know what they want. They’re not trying to change each other. They give each other space.

Lisa’s also not intimidated by Jeremy’s fame or personality. She’ll tell him when he’s being an idiot. She’ll do things her own way even when he thinks he’s in charge. That balance keeps things interesting after eight years.

They’re also united by the farm work. It’s not just a telly show. It’s their actual life. They deal with council planning battles, animal welfare, crop failures, and machinery breakdowns. All the proper stressful stuff that comes with running a working farm.

Jeremy recently admitted he’s become obsessed with the AgBot T2, a driverless tractor. “Every night for the past week I’ve climbed into bed and made Lisa watch a feed from the AgBot’s cameras as he trundles along in the darkness,” he told The Telegraph. “She thinks I’ve become a bore and wonders sleepily why I can’t watch Pornhub like a normal person.”

That quote basically sums up their relationship. Jeremy’s off doing Jeremy things. Lisa’s tolerating it whilst running the farm shop. It works for them.

What’s Next

Jeremy’s 65 now, and Lisa’s 51. They’ve built a life in the Cotswolds that works for them both. The farm’s become a proper tourist attraction. The Farmer’s Dog pub opened last year and seems to be doing well despite Storm Darragh damage.

Will they ever get married? Probably not. Lisa has made it clear that she likes being Lisa Hogan, not Mrs Clarkson. And Jeremy’s been married twice before.

But after eight years together, living and working side by side, dealing with farm disasters and council battles and media attention, they’re still going strong. That’s worth more than a wedding ring.

Lisa’s Instagram post marking eight years together received numerous supportive comments. People love seeing them on Clarkson’s Farm. They’re a proper partnership, even if they’ll never be husband and wife.

For two people in their 50s and 60s who’ve both been through marriages and know exactly what they want, maybe just being together without all the legal paperwork is exactly right. They’re happy pootling along, as Lisa put it. Sometimes that’s enough.
