Meghan’s been dead honest about this. Since having her son Riley in 2021, she’s been struggling with feeling comfortable in her own skin. Not because of some shallow vanity thing, but because pregnancy and childbirth properly mess with your head and your body in ways nobody warns you about.

Now, before anyone starts moaning about her “taking the easy way out”, let me stop you right there. I’ve watched mates struggle with weight after having kids. The hormones are mental. Your metabolism’s gone to pot. Sometimes your body needs a bit of extra help to get back on track.

Meghan revealed this in April 2025 after appearing at the Billboard Women in Music event, where everyone was gawping at her transformation instead of celebrating her actual achievements. She was properly fed up with people focusing on her body instead of her music, which I totally get.

I had a mate who got a boob job after breastfeeding three kids. She wasn’t doing it for anyone else; she just wanted to feel like herself again. That’s exactly what Meghan’s talking about when she says she’s “never been more comfortable in my body.”

What’s quite sweet is that her husband, Daryl Sabara, is on the same journey. They’re both taking Mounjaro together and supporting each other. There’s something proper lovely about couples getting healthy together instead of one person doing it alone.

My cousin and her husband did Weight Watchers together a few years back. Made all the difference having someone who understood what you were going through, especially on the days when you just wanted to eat an entire packet of biscuits.

The Backlash That’s Proper Doing My Head In

What’s been winding me up is the response from some of her fans. People are saying they don’t recognise her anymore, like that’s somehow her problem to fix.

Listen, I get being shocked when someone looks different. But acting like she owes you a certain body type? That’s mental. She’s a human being, not your personal body positivity mascot.

The woman is 31 years old, she’s had two kids, and she’s making choices about her own body. If those choices help her feel better physically and mentally, then good for her.

What This Actually Means for Body Positivity

This is where I think people are getting confused about the Meghan Trainor weight loss journey. Body positivity was never about saying, “Don’t change anything about yourself ever.” It was about not hating yourself while you exist in whatever body you have right now.

Meghan’s still talking about loving yourself. She’s just doing it from a different-sized body now. The message hasn’t changed; only the packaging has.

I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life. Sometimes I’m bigger, smaller. But what’s never changed is learning to be kind to myself, regardless of what the scales say. That’s what real body positivity looks like.

What I Think About All This

Listen, this whole Meghan Trainor weight loss journey thing; it’s not really about the 60 pounds, is it? She’s just a mum who wanted to feel normal again. Had two kids, body went mental, hormones all over the shop. Sound familiar?

She tried everything, such as good food and proper workouts, and even got some medical help and had surgery. Fair play to her. My mate Sarah did the same after her third kid. Sometimes you need all the help you can get.

What winds me up is people acting like she’s done something wrong. Like she owes them the same body she had ten years ago. Mental, if you ask me.

She looks happy now. That’s what matters. End of story, really.
