The aircraft was airborne for approximately seven minutes before coming down near Shanklin Road, between Shanklin and Whiteley Bank.

The A3020 Shanklin Road was closed to facilitate the response.

A witness reported seeing the helicopter spiraling before it crashed into a hedge. She observed four individuals on board and noted that the airbags appeared to have been activated.
