This season Martin Kemp has only taken part in four of the Bushtucker Trials.
Some viewers — including his son Roman Kemp — publicly questioned why he seemed to have avoided the more demanding challenges.
Vogue said: “Martin did want to do the trials, but Martin was exempt from some.”
According to reports, this exemption may be linked to Kemp’s age and medical history — in particular past brain-tumour treatment and known epilepsy.
She added that he was “quieter” and seemed content letting others take part, calling him “sound” and “really, really lovely.
Historically on the show, certain contestants may be ruled out of some trials based on factors like age or medical history.
That suggests the exemption may have been a production decision — not a personal choice or laziness.
On 2 December, Roman Kemp posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Genuine question, is my dad the only one to have not done an actual trial?”
Some fans echoed frustration that Martin’s “quiet” nature and fewer trials translated into less screen time.
Martin eventually participated in a Bushtucker Trial shortly before leaving the jungle — but it was his first “proper” one after being spared earlier.
He exited the jungle on 4 December after a public vote.
Viewers grew concerned when Vogue appeared with a bandaged knee — many wondered if it was from a trial.
On Instagram Live, she admitted she fell during a “camp-made game” when trying to run across a bouncy jungle bridge — she “completely busted” her knee.
She said it was “so annoying and so stupid … completely my fault.”
After the fall, medics in the camp treated her knee immediately.
Despite the injury, she went on to complete a Bushtucker Trial — though she described the injury as painful and “a bit gross.”
ogue’s comments hint that decisions on who does trials may involve health, age, production discretion — not just willingness or popularity.
For Martin, this meant a gentler jungle journey. For viewers, it raised questions about fairness and transparency of trial assignments.
