Nicola Hart: Everything to Know About Jamie Carragher’s Wife

Published on June 12, 2026 by Grace Davis

You’ve probably heard plenty about Jamie Carragher. But Nicola Hart? She’s the one who’s quietly outdone him lately.

She’s his wife, a British interior designer from Merseyside, and a woman who ran seven marathons in a single year. “Footballer’s wife” barely covers it. So here’s her real story.

KEY POINTS
  • Nicola Hart, now Nicola Carragher, wed Jamie back in July 2005.
  • They’ve been together since they were kids in Bootle and have two children, James and Mia.
  • She quietly runs two interior design firms out of Crosby, Liverpool.
  • In 2025 she smashed all seven World Marathon Majors for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

Who is Nicola Hart?

Who is Nicola Hart?

Nicola Hart was born on 1 September 1980, so she is completely English. She grew up in Bootle, Merseyside, just down the road from where Jamie was raised.

These days, she goes by Nicola Carragher. And while Jamie spent years on the telly, she’s never once chased the limelight.

World in Sport sums the pair up nicely as a down-to-earth family who’d take simple joys over flashbulbs any day.

Childhood Sweethearts

Their story’s a proper old-school one. They first crossed paths as kids in primary school.

Years later, they reconnected as teenagers, and things turned romantic when Jamie Carragher was about 18. The Sun has called them childhood sweethearts for ages, and honestly, the tag’s spot on.

They tied the knot on 1 July 2005 at Weston Park, right on the Staffordshire–Shropshire border. Funny thing is, that wasn’t even the plan.

Their first pick, Allerton Castle in North Yorkshire, was partly wrecked by a fire. The big day came just months after Liverpool’s mad Champions League comeback in Istanbul.

The Kids

Jamie Carragher

Nicola and Jamie have two of them. Son James Carragher arrived on 11 November 2002 and, no surprise, took up football. He’s a central defender, just like his dad.

James signed youth terms with Wigan Athletic in 2017 and has since gone pro.

Daughter Mia Carragher came along on 14 May 2004. She’s a trained dancer, singer and actor. Back in 2017, she popped up in a 90-second advert getting folk on Merseyside onto the buses — one of 24 kids picked for it.

Fast forward to 2025, and she bagged a cracking role as Katniss Everdeen in a London stage take on The Hunger Games, over in Canary Wharf.

Her Own Business, Her Own Way

Nicola didn’t just sit in Jamie’s shadow. In November 2015, she got stuck into business in Merseyside. She set up Nicola Carragher Limited, and that very same month, co-founded Elixir Design Interior (Liverpool) Ltd.

She’s still an active director of both, based in Crosby, Liverpool. Companies House records back it all up — real residential design work across the North West. Nice and separate from anything to do with football.

Seven Marathons in One Year

And then there’s this. In 2024, Nicola set herself an absolutely bonkers target. She went from casual jogging to the elite Abbott World Marathon Majors.

As Magazine 7 retold it, she said, “I had this CRAZY idea to run them all within a year… going from a 5K to a marathon in 14 weeks.”

She nailed every single one inside twelve months. Berlin kicked things off in September 2024, then Chicago and New York. Tokyo, Boston and London came in spring 2025.

Sydney finished the job in August 2025. Loads of seasoned runners never tick off the full set, never mind in one year.

Why She Ran in These Marathons

Nicola raised money for Alder Hey Children’s Charity, and it’s deeply personal. The hospital looked after her brother John when he was just 11. He’d fallen seriously ill with meningitis and ended up in an induced coma.

Jamie, too, was born with gastroschisis — a rare abdominal wall defect — and needed lifesaving care as a newborn.

She set a £10,000 JustGiving target to help the 450,000 young patients Alder Hey sees each year. By mid-2025, her page had pulled in over 130 donors and topped £7,000.

She even joined Paula Radcliffe’s podcast, ‘Paula’s Marathon Run Club’, to chat about it. On why it matters, she said: “As a mum, I will always be passionate about children, their health, and their future.”

Clearing Up the Confusion

News Arc flags that there’s another Nicola Hart out there — an artist living between New Zealand and Australia, known for painting and ceramics. A different woman entirely.

Searches tying the name to “agua de madre” have nothing to do with Jamie’s wife either. And those net worth figures floating about? None are verified, so take them with a big pinch of salt.
